I have owned several of these coats over the years. I have a bad habit of leaving them behind in a restaurant or other place when I am traveling! I have to say the material is much flimsier than it used to be. My son didn't like the most recent one he bought because the material in the pockets was roughing up his hands. He didn't have that problem with earlier version of the coat. So I ended up wearing it until I lost that one too. For me it is at least cheap and "losable." I guess it is the Bic pen of coats! But I expected better from Columbia. I think they are making a mistake going with cheaper material to save costs. I would have easily paid another $5.00 or $10.00 for better quality. (Realizing the fabric is a minor part of the total cost.)

We just received this item last week and my husband had a chance to use it this past weekend when we were in the mountains. It rained off and on quite a bit and during the first time it rained, which was NOT a downpour just regular light rain, it soaked through the jacket material and onto his shirt leaving wet spots. So, Columbia's name for this jacket is definitely a bit of a stretch.
